Needy è il nuovo singolo di Ariana Grande, presentato agli iHeartRadio Awards 2019 con quartetto d’archi (video e testo)

Needy è il nuovo singolo di Ariana Grande, o così lascia intendere l’esibizione della popstar agli iHeartRadio Awards 2019 di Los Angeles, in scena al Microsoft Theater il 14 marzo.

Premiata come artista dell’anno, la Grande non ha potuto ritirare personalmente il premio assegnatole dalla celebre emittente perché impegnata a preparare il debutto del suo Sweetener Tour 2019 che partirà il 19 marzo. Così il presentatore Pharrell Williams, che è stato anche tra i produttori dell’album Sweetener, ha introdotto la sua performance pre-registrata, annunciando che Needy, sarebbe stato “il suo prossimo grande successo“.

Seduta in quello che sembrava essere uno studio usato per le prove del tour, Ariana Grande si è esibita accompagnata da un quartetto d’archi, due tastieristi ed altri musicisti per una versione più intima di Needy, traccia contenuta nell’ultimo album Thank U, Next rilasciato lo scorso febbraio e record storico in classifica negli Usa.

A quanto pare, dunque, sarà questo il prossimo estratto come singolo, dopo i successi incredibili in classifica di Thank U, Next, 7 Rings e Break Up with Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored. Come in altre occasioni – ad esempio per Breathin diventato un singolo a furor di popolo – anche in questo caso potrebbe essere stato l’altro gradimento del pubblico per Needy, mostrato sui social e le piattaforme streaming sin dal debutto dell’album, a spingere il management della popstar a sceglierlo come nuovo estratto, per supportare la promozione del tour.

La versione realizzata per gli iHeartRadio Awards 2019 potrebbe essere la stessa che sarà nella scaletta dello Sweetener Tour 2019 ormai in partenza, dedicato sia ai brani dell’omonimo album che a quelli dell’ultimo disco Thank U, Next, rilasciati a sei mesi di distanza l’uno dall’altro. La nuova tournée, però, a differenza del Dangerous Woman Tour, non passerà dall’Italia.

La Grande ha fatto anche un veloce discorso di accettazione in cui ha giurato che sarebbe andata a dormire col premio. Ecco la sua esibizione e il testo del nuovo singolo, che non ha ancora una data ufficiale per l’ingresso nell’airplay radiofonico statunitense.
