Vincitori ai Critics’ Choice Awards 2016, da Game of Thrones a Viola Davis e la novità Westworld

Tra i vincitori ai Critics’ Choice Awards 2016 tante novità insidiano il primato di serie diventate ormai dei classici contemporanei: Game of Thrones si è confermata anche quest’anno la Migliore serie drammatica, ma non si può ignorare la ventata di new entry che ha conquistato alcuni premi della critica assegnati con la cerimonia di domenica 11 dicembre.

Un esempio su tutti, il capolavoro Westworld di HBO: la nuova serie ispirata al romanzo di Michael Crichton, acclamata dalla critica e accolta con entusiasmo dal pubblico nonostante non sia affatto un prodotto di massa, ha conquistato la vittoria nella sezione Miglior attrice in una serie drammatica per Evan Rachel Wood (capace di battere i premi Emmy Viola Davis e Tatiana Maslany) e in quella di Miglior attrice non protagonista in una serie drammatica per Thandie Newton. L’altra serie lodata dalla critica in quest’annata ricca di novità tv, The Crown, conquista la statuetta per il Miglior attore non protagonista in una serie drammatica con John Lithgow.

Sconfitta nella sezione Miglior attrice protagonista con How To Get Away with Murder, Viola Davis ha portato a casa la statuetta per il film Fences come non protagonista.

Nessuna di loro, però, è stata in grado di insidiare il primato di Game of Thrones: la saga di HBO continua a macinare consensi anche dopo la sesta stagione e a confermarsi la miglior serie drammatica con l’ennesimo premio nella categoria principale dei Critics’ Choice Awards 2016, imponendosi su Better Call Saul (che vince nella categoria Miglior attore in una serie drammatica con Bob Odenkirk), Mr. Robot, Stranger Things, The Crown, This Is Us, Westworld. Silicon Valley vince la competizione sul fronte delle comedy, mentre Jeffrey Dean Morgan riesce a portare a casa l’unico premio per The Walking Dead come miglior guest star per il suo Negan.
