Thin White Duke, Ziggy Stardust, Starman: Davi Bowie era noto al grande pubblico con tante identità diverse, ma oggi tutti lo ricordano con parole come “mito” e “leggenda”. Perché questa è la sensazione di fronte alla notizia della morte del rocker britannico, quella di aver perso l’ultima leggenda vivente della musica contemporanea, l’uomo capace di rifiutare tutte le etichette di genere e restare un mito indiscusso per diverse generazioni per ben mezzo secolo.
David Bowie è morto all’età di 69 dopo una lunga battaglia con il cancro: nel mondo della musica la sua malattia era nota, gli addetti ai lavori ne erano consapevoli, ma forse una parte del suo pubblico ne era completamente all’oscuro. Anche molti colleghi hanno mostrato sorpresa e sgomento di fronte alla notizia della morte, apparsa sui canali social dell’artista nella mattina dell’11 gennaio.
Una scomparsa arrivata a pochi giorni dall’uscita di Blackstar, il suo nuovo album che praticamente è quasi un lavoro postumo: Bowie vi ha lavorato negli ultimi anni nonostante la malattia lo avesse messo a dura prova e lo ha rilasciato sul mercato internazionale l’8 gennaio. Poi il repentino aggravarsi delle sue condizioni fino alla morte di domenica.
La sua scomparsa ha scosso il mondo dello spettacolo, ma anche la società civile tutta: capi di stato, rockstar, attori, registi e ovviamente il suo pubblico, tutti lo hanno ricordato per il suo enorme impatto sulla musica contemporanea.
