Da quando è uscito il duetto Señorita di Camila Cabello e Shawn Mendes le speculazioni sul rapporto tra i due artisti si sono rincorse fino a quella che sembrerebbe una conferma della loro storia d’amore.
Il recente annuncio della fine della sua relazione con Matthew Hussey aveva portato i fan della Cabello a pensare che ci fosse un’altra persona nella sua vita e questa persona sembra essere proprio Mendes.
I due cantanti sono stati fotografati insieme e mano nella mano mercoledì 3 luglio a West Hollywood, negli Stati Uniti, certamente non in un contesto professionale. Gli scatti dei paparazzi mostrano Camila Cabello sorridente e Shawn Mendes che le porta la borsetta, presumibilmente al termine di una serata trascorsa insieme: che il duetto in Señorita sia stato galeotto per le due popstar?
Il brano, accompagnato da un video ufficiale dalle atmosfere piuttosto calde, ha debuttato il 20 giugno e ha raggiunto il secondo posto della Billboard Hot 100 negli Stati Uniti. Nelle due settimane successive al rilascio, ha ottenuto oltre 100 milioni di ascolti in streaming su Spotify, un traguardo da record che condivide con la hit Thank U, Next di Ariana Grande. Si tratta del quinto singolo entrato in Top 10 Billboard per Shawn Mendes e il quarto per la Cabello come solista dopo l’addio polemico alla girl band Fifth Harmony. Per loro non si tratta del primo duetto, visto che hanno raggiunto il 20° posto in classifica nel 2016 con I Know What You Did Last Summer.
