Liam Gallagher pubblica The River, il nuovo singolo disponibile in radio e in digital download che anticipa il disco Why Me? Why Not in programma per il prossimo 20 settembre.

The River segue il rilascio del primo pezzo, Shockwave, il primo singolo ad anticipare le sonorità del nuovo album dell’ex Oasis che, dopo il fallimento dell’idea della reunion con suo fratello Noel, è pronto a tornare con un progetto da solista.

The River è un brano potente e viscerale con un riff che rimanda ai Led Zeppelin e all’energia tipica della corrente musicale Madchester, rimanendo sempre moderno e contemporaneo. Un brano che colpisce al primo ascolto con un Liam Gallagher dalla vocalità particolarmente potente nell’incitare la generazione contemporanea a combattere per il cambiamento.

The River è una critica ai capisaldi del mondo dell’establishment, dai politici che puntano solo ad arricchirsi alle celebrità prive di qualunque spessore. Il brano è stato co-scritto da Liam assieme al produttore Andrew Wyatt, co-autore, fra gli altri, del brano Shallow del film A Star is Born. Non è la prima volta che Gallagher collabora con Wyatt: i due avevano già lavorato insieme nel precedente album, As You Were.
