Dopo aver debuttato dal vivo durante i concerti italiani dell’Experience+Innocence Tour 2018, LandLady degli U2 approda in radio come nuovo singolo della band irlandese dal loro quattordicesimo disco in studio.
Si tratta del sesto brano tratto dall’ultimo album del gruppo Songs of Experience, dopo l’apripista You’re the Best Thing About Me pubblicato un anno fa, e i successivi singoli The Blackout, Get Out of Your Own Way, Lights of Home e Love Is Bigger Than Anything in Its Way, che risale allo scorso aprile.
La canzone è stata eseguita per la prima volta proprio in Italia, durante la seconda data del tour al Mediolanum Forum di Assago, e replicata nella scaletta dell’ultimo dei quattro concerti milanesi: una sorpresa graditissima per il pubblico italiano, di cui da sempre Bono e soci hanno apprezzato il calore e la dedizione.
Dichiarazione d’amore di Bono per sua moglie Ali, “la padrona di casa” del titolo, il brano ha una melodia malinconica e romantica, che all’inizio con l’intro di chitarra contiene un campionamento di Raised By Wolves, mentre il testo cita le onde di Every Breaking Wave, uno dei singoli del precedente album Songs of Innocence di cui Songs of Experience costituisce il secondo volume.
