Il grande successo di Breathin di Ariana Grande sin dal debutto dell’album Sweetener ha di fatto spinto la popstar e i suoi discografici su una strada obbligata: il brano è diventato inevitabilmente il terzo singolo ufficiale estratto dall’ultimo disco della cantante, rilasciato un mese fa.
Anticipato da No tears left to cry e God is a woman, oltre che dal brano promozionale in duetto con Nicki Minaj The light is coming, Sweetener ha ora un terzo singolo che di fatto è stato scelto dai fan.
Sin dal rilascio dell’album il 17 agosto, infatti, Breathin si è affermato come uno dei brani più ascoltati in streaming dell’intera tracklist, piazzandosi al 4° posto su Spotify e nella top10 di iTunes negli Stati Uniti. Il brano ha perfino debuttato al 22° posto in Billboard Hot 100 pur senza alcuna promozione specifica.
Un risultato spontaneo quello ottenuto dalla canzone, certamente una delle più meritevoli del disco e tra quelle che più esaltano le doti della Grande, che non poteva passare inosservato: con un brano già entrato in classifica senza alcuno sforzo promozionale, è stato chiaro che il nuovo singolo non avrebbe potuto essere altri che Breathin.
Perfino le radio hanno cominciato a diffonderla spontaneamente: una lista pubblicata da All Access certifica come Breathin sia la new entry scelta da più emittenti di musica pop negli Stati Uniti per la rotazione radiofonica, nello specifico 43.
