Finora era rimasto in disparte, mentre i nuovi piccioncini facevano bella mostra del loro neonato amore sui social, ma l’ex di Ariana Grande Mac Miller non ha mantenuto il basso profilo per molto tempo.
Nello stesso giorno in cui la popstar rilasciava il suo nuovo singolo God Is A Woman, accompagnato da un iconico videoclip, il 26enne di Pittsburgh ha pubblicato una nuova canzone e un nuovo video musicale, Self Care, il cui testo sembra il racconto della relazione finita con la Grande.
Il rapper sembra sublimare in musica il dolore per il fallimento della relazione con la cantante di Dangerous Woman, ora fidanzata ufficialmente, con tanto di anello di diamanti, con l’attore comico Pete Davidson.
C’è da dire che Miller non menziona mai il nome di Ariana Grande e secondo TMZ la canzone sarebbe stata scritta lo scorso anno, dunque ben prima della loro separazione avvenuta solo a maggio 2018, ma le parole del testo hanno spinto molti fan a chiedersi se la storia naufragata di cui parla il brano sia quella finita due mesi fa, con la repentina decisione della cantante di lasciarlo per il comico dopo due anni di relazione.
“Non posso fidarmi di nessuno, non posso nemmeno fidarmi di te, sì / Beh, non sapevo cosa mi mancava (…) Sono rimasto bloccato nel dimenticatoio” canta Mac Miller in Self Care.
Il riferimento della canzone non è esplicito , ma il fatto che sia stata rilasciata proprio ora induce a pensare che possa essere una risposta al fidanzamento-lampo annunciato l’11 giugno, dopo poche settimane di frequentazione con Davidson.
La Grande, dal canto suo, si era già espressa sulla situazione definendo la storia col rapper “tossica” e spiegando di avergli fatto da “babysitter e madre” per due anni cercando di aiutarlo nella lotta all’alcolismo, ma di non sentirsi in colpa per il fatto di aver scelto di vivere la propria vita lontano da lui.
