Rihanna canta le imprese nello spazio in Star Trek: Beyond. Video e testo di Sledgehammer

Un’altra clip di Rihanna è approdata in rete: stavolta nessun singolo dall’album ANTI, ma il video del brano Sledgehammer, registrato per la colonna sonora del film Star Trek: Beyond.

La clip richiama l’atmosfera di fantascienza che caratterizza il franchise di Star Trek, che in questo capitolo racconta l’epico viaggio nello spazio della USS Enterprise e del suo equipaggiamento impegnato a sconfiggere un nuovo nemico.

Quest’anno si tratta della sesta clip di Rihanna in soli sei mesi: la popstar ha rilasciato anche due clip per il singolo Work ed altre per Kiss It Better, Needed Me e This is what you came for, il nuovo duetto con Calvin Harris.

Questa canzone rappresenta l’ennesima collaborazione di Rihanna con Sia (già autrice di Diamonds). Un tweet di Rihanna del 2014 suggerisce che sia stata in lavorazione per oltre due anni. In origine probabilmente destinato ad ANTI, il brano sarebbe poi stato scelto come colonna sonora del film e probabilmente modificato per il progetto (il titolo Sledgehammer è probabilmente anche una citazione di Star Wars, una delle bombe presenti nella saga).

Sledgehammer vanta il primato di primo video musicale presentato in IMAX negli Stati Uniti ed appare anche nei trailer del film, diretto da Justin Lin e distribuito nelle sale da Paramount Pictures International dal 21 luglio, disponibile anche in 3D.
