Ci sono ovviamente i soliti noti e poche novità tra i vincitori degli iHeartRadio Music Awards 2016: quest’anno i premi organizzati dalla storica emittente radiofonica statunitense si sono tenuti domenica 3 aprile al The Forum di Los Angeles.

Taylor Swift ha guidato le nomination di quest’edizione col suo ultimo album e tour, confermandosi la più premiata tra gli artisti in concorso. Oltre ad essere eletta artista femminile dell’anno, la Swift si è aggiudicata il premio per l’album dell’anno (battendo la concorrenza di Adele, The Weeknd, Sam Smith e Ed Sheeran) e il miglior tour con lo spettacolo a supporto di 1989 recentemente concluso.

Il suo compagno, il dj e produttore Calvin Harris, ha vinto il premio come artista dance dell’anno. Il loro abbraccio durante la premiazione ha fatto il giro della rete.

Justin Bieber è l’artista maschile dell’anno, ma vince anche con Where Are Ü Now feat. Skrillex & Diplo nella sezione per il brano dance dell’anno. Sono suoi anche i migliori fan, i Belibers: un risultato che ha scatenato le proteste degli altri fandom con l’hashtag #iHeartRadioStoleOurAward.


Adele porta a casa soltanto il premio per il Singolo dell’anno con Hello, il primo estratto da 25. La miglior collaborazione dello scorso anno è Uptown Funk di Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars, mentre il miglior singolo R&B è Earned It di The Weeknd, dalla colonna sonora di Cinquanta sfumature di grigio. A proposito di colonne sonore, dopo aver mancato l’oscar in favore di Sam Smith, Lady Gaga si accaparra il premio per la Miglior canzone da un film con Til It Happens To You (dal documentario sugli abusi sessuali The Hunting Ground).

Doppia vittoria sul fronte hip hop per Drake, che vince come artista dell’anno e col singolo Hotline Bling. Il gruppo dell’anno sono i Maroon 5, mentre i Foo Fighters sono gli artisti rock dell’anno.
