Il nuovo singolo Light of Love di Florence + The Machine non è poi così nuovo e non è nemmeno un singolo in piena regola, ma ha certamente uno scopo nobile.
Un brano scartato da High As Hope
Si tratta di un’outtake, pubblicata il 17 aprile dopo due anni dalla sua incisione: Light of Love di Florence + The Machine è un brano che era stato registrato e poi scartato durante la lavorazione del precedente album della band inglese, finendo fuori dalla selezione per la tracklist del disco High as Hope del 2018.
Una ballata al pianoforte
Oggi, però, questa ballata piano e voce a cui si aggiungono altri strumenti in un crescendo tipico dello stile della band sembra perfetta per l’iniziativa che la cantante ha voluto organizzare per dare il proprio contributo durante l’emergenza sanitaria che affligge mezzo mondo. Florence Welch ha deciso di pubblicare Light of Love per raccogliere fondi da destinare al sistema sanitario nazionale inglese particolarmente provato dalla pandemia, donando l’intero profitto che sarà generato dai download del brano.
Lo scopo benefico di Light of Love di Florence + The Machine
L’artista ha spiegato che devolverà il ricavato del singolo alla Intensive Care Society, l’organizzazione inglese che rappresenta i professionisti delle terapie intensive e lavora perché sia fornito il miglior servizio di cura possibile nei reparti di rianimazione del Regno Unito, oltre ad essere la più antica società di medicina di terapia intensiva al mondo.
‘Light of Love’ è una nuova canzone di ‘High as Hope’, che non è mai arrivata nel disco, ma ho pensato di poterla pubblicare stanotte a mezzanotte, come un piccolo segno del mio amore. E per sensibilizzare la Intensive Care Society, che fornisce assistenza e supporto agli incredibili medici, infermieri e operatori sanitari in prima linea in questa crisi. Donerò tutte le mie entrate da questa canzone alla Intensive Care Society. Vi amo e mi mancate davvero tanto.
