Il 26 giugno del 2015 Apple Watch ha finalmente debuttato anche in Italia. Lo smartwatch di Cupertino è stato commercializzato in Nordamerica e in alcuni altri selezionati paesi, quasi tutti di lingua inglese, già da qualche settimana (la data esatta è il 24 aprile scorso): come sua abitudine, ormai, Apple ha deciso di allargare gradualmente la commercializzazione a un numero crescente di nazioni, in modo tale da garantire adeguate scorte di magazzino per soddisfare la domanda.
Nella giornata di ieri, Reverse Strap ha pubblicato le specifiche di progettazione di un interessante accessorio per l’Apple Watch: un cinturino dotato di una batteria supplementare, che va a risolvere uno dei problemi più sentiti nell’uso dell’orologio di Cupertino, ossia la scarsa autonomia. Secondo quanto affermato da Lane Musgrave e John Arrow (gl sviluppatori) l’accessorio è in grado di aggiungere oltre 30 ore di autonomia ad Apple Watch.
Il cinturino Reserve Strap avrà un peso di 65 grammi per una larghezza di 25 mm e spessore di tra i 3-9 mm. Possibile la ricarica tramite USB con funzione pass-through in modo da assicurare contemporaneamente corrente all’Apple Watch ed al cinturino. Il materiale utilizzato per la realizzazione di Reverse Strap è uno speciale silicone elastomerico termoindurente, che assicurerà una resistenza all’acqua pari a quella di Apple Watch e non interferirà con i sensori dell’orologio.
Apple dichiara circa 18 ore di autonomia media per Apple Watch, che dispone di uno schermo a colori che consuma energia ogni volta che viene acceso – senza contare la connettività wireless e tutti i sensori integrati. L’autonomia totale scende se si utilizza moltissimo l’apparecchio per interrogare Siri, consultare posta e messaggi.

How Reserve Strap Works
- Reserve Strap will connect to the Apple Watch similar to Apple bands. It will slide in laterally then you’ll then push forward a small switch underneath the band to engage the accessory port connection to secure the Reserve Strap on the Watch.
- At your discretion simply press the power button once to initiate charging. You can use the Watch as normal while it charges.
- Once top-off charging is complete after 60-75 minutes, press the power button again to save the rest of Reserve Strap for another time. Or if you decide to leave Reserve Strap on, Apple Watch will use the Strap’s power to keep the Apple Watch at 100% power until the Reserve Strap is depleted.
- Reserve Strap uses a minimal LED indicator to let you know how much charge you have left. When you turn the charge on or plug it in, the LED will glow either green, yellow or red indicating a high, medium or low charge.
- Recharging the Reserve Strap and Apple Watch is incredibly easy. You can leave your Strap on the Watch and simply plug it in via micro USB. This will charge the Apple Watch and Reserve Strap at the same time!
