Domenica 10 febbraio i Grammy Awards 2019, per la 61esima edizione del premio considerato il più grande riconoscimento musicale conferito ad artisti, produttori, compositori, hanno consacrato sul palco dello Staple Center di Los Angeles un certo numero di outsider oltre ai favoriti Lady Gaga, Drake, Cardi B.

Il celebre grammofono d’oro è stato assegnato ai vincitori delle categorie più importanti nel corso di tre ore di diretta tv (gli altri premi erano stati precedentemente conferiti per un totale di 84 riconoscimenti) che è stato anche ricco di momenti musicali dal vivo.

Tra i momenti salenti della serata, le premiazioni di Kacey Musgraves, Childish Gambino, HER, Brandi Carlile e ovviamente l’attesissima Lady Gaga che si è anche esibita con la sua Shallow: la canzone, assurta a tema principale della colonna sonora del film A Star Is Born, è stata premiata come Miglior Canzone Scritta per un Mezzo Visivo e Miglior Collaborazione Duo/Gruppo per la versione con Bradley Cooper presente nel film. Gaga ha anche vinto un premio come Miglior Performance Pop Solista con Joanne (Where Do You Think You’re Goin’?), la versione al piano di Joanne, brano tratto dall’omonimo album in studio della cantante che finora ha rappresentato il suo lavoro personale.

Ecco la sua esibizione sul palco dei Grammy Awards 2019: Gaga si è fatta accompagnare da Mark Ronson e gli altri compositori del brano (Bradley Cooper quella sera era ai BAFTA a Londra), realizzando una versione pop-rock molto più nelle sue corde rispetto all’interpretazione più intima del suo personaggio Ally in A Star Is Born.

Vera rivelazione di quest’edizione Kacey Musgraves, che di Grammy ne ha portati a casa ben quattro, incluso il più ambito, quello di “Album dell’anno” per Golden Hour. Anche Donald Glover, alias Childish Gambino, è stato premiato quattro volte per This Is America, mentre la nuova arrivata Gabriela Wilson, HER (Having a Everything Revealed), ha chiuso la serata ritirando i premi nelle principali categorie R&B. La cantante country/roots Brandi Carlile ha ricevuto tre Grammy, al pari di Lady Gaga. Altri premi sono stati assegnati a Drake, Card B, Dua Lipa, Pharrell Williams, Kendrick Lamar, Silk City (Mark Ronson + Diplo) e la grande assente Ariana Grande, che avrebbe dovuto esibirsi ma ha rinunciato in seguito a divergenze creative con gli organizzatori.
