I Billboard Music Awards si sono appena conclusi, ma ancora siamo in grado di sentire le emozioni regalate dagli artisti sul palco del T-Mobile Arena. Le premiazioni non hanno deluso le aspettative della vigilia, con un The Weeknd acchiappa tutto che ha letteralmente lasciato al palo gli agguerritissimi Adele e Justin Bieber.
La serata si è aperta con la diva del pop, Britney Spears. La stella di Baby One More Time si è esibita in una performance sensazionale, nel quale ha riproposto alcuni dei suoi maggiori successi. Come Beyoncé e Whitney Houston in passato, la Spears è stata insignita del Billboard Millennium Award, per i suoi successi e per l’influenza sull’industria musicale.
Tra i momenti più toccanti della ricca serata, rientra senza dubbio la performance di Celine Dion con The Show Must Go On dei Queen. La cantante canadese è stata premiata con il Billboard Icon, in segno di riconoscimento per i suoi 30 anni di carriera. Come era lecito aspettarsi, è l’omaggio a Prince da parte di Madonna e Stevie Wonder a non passare inosservato.
Sono stati in parecchi a sottolineare la débâcle vocale di Madonna in Questlove, salvo assolverla qualche minuto dopo per l’interpretazione di Purple Rain, accompagnata da un corista d’eccezione del calibro di Stevie Wonder. C’è stato anche il momento dedicato alle anteprima mondiali, quest’anno affidato ad Adele, che ha lanciato il videoclip del suo ultimo singolo Send My Love (To Your New Lover).
